Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions, you may be able to find them here before placing a call.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open at Torrance, CA and Manhattan Beach, CA from 10AM-7PM Monday through Friday and 10AM-6PM on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays.

Where are you located?

We have two locations to meet your needs in the Southern California area: Torrance, and Manhattan Beach.

South Bay Gold Manhattan Beach is located on the southwest corner of PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and Marine Ave.

South Bay Gold Torrance is located on the southwest corner of Hawthorne Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd at 3804 Sepulveda Blvd. Suite C, Torrance, CA 90505. We share the same building as Lindberg Nutrition and we occupy the second floor. Our entrance faces Hawthorne Blvd, next to a Bank of America ATM.

What items do you buy?

We buy gold, silver, platinum, palladium in the form of coins, bullion, watches, scrap metal (in all forms), and fine jewelry. We buy diamonds and have gemologists on-site who can assist you in identifying your diamond. We also buy emeralds, rubies, sapphires, tsavorite garnets, and tanzanite.

What are my old coins worth?

Probably more than you think! Pre-1965 American silver dollars, half dollars, quarters and dimes are mostly silver, so bring your old coins in today for an immediate offer! And please DO NOT clean your coins, it can substantially reduce their value.

How are your prices?

It is not unusual for a customer to tell us our buy price on a ring is between 50% to double or more than that offered by pawn shops or jewelry stores! For scrap gold, be sure to check out our scrap prices. Pre-1965 silver coins values are based on the daily spot price by weight. Condition and rarity determine rare coin prices, and we can both authenticate and provide a market for your coins. I gives us great pride to say that we have one of the highest payouts in the nation. For diamonds, please call one of our locations to have one of our gemologists appraise your stone.

What are the best coins to buy?

American Gold coins and Silver Dollars remain the top picks, and the degree of preservation is critical to their value. We are members of the Professional Coin Grading Service, and can provide certification of your coin's condition, assuring their preservation and value plus giving you piece of mind.

I've just inherited a coin collection. Do you offer appraisals?

Yes, please contact us so we may schedule an appointment at our store with a professional coin grader.

Should I buy rare coins or bullion?

A little bit of both! Bullion gives you easy liquidity and while rare coins offer even greater upside potential, they usually take longer to sell for maximum dollar. We recommend investors allocate at least 60% of their available funds in pure bullion form, with the balance in both numismatic and semi-numismatic coins.
